This morning, I woke up to the sweetest birthday message from my husband. His words reminded me just how blessed I am to be loved so deeply, so completely, and so wholeheartedly.

As I celebrate another birthday, what fills my heart most isn’t simply getting older—it’s knowing that I’ve been given another year to love you, pray for us, and look forward to the life we’re still waiting to begin together.

For so long, I thought love was something you had to earn.

I thought love meant proving yourself, shrinking yourself, forgiving the unforgivable, and accepting pain just so you wouldn’t have to be alone. I thought love was supposed to be confusing, exhausting, and filled with uncertainty.

Then you loved me differently.

You loved me correctly.

You showed me that real love doesn’t make you question your worth. It doesn’t punish you for having feelings, use your past against you, or require you to lose yourself just to keep someone else.

Real love feels safe.

It is patient when I’m overwhelmed, gentle with the places in me that are still healing, and steady when life becomes difficult. It celebrates my strength without being threatened by it and holds space for my vulnerability without making me feel weak.

You taught me the meaning of being loved unconditionally—not because I’m perfect, but because your love doesn’t disappear when I have imperfect moments.

You taught me what it means to be loved wholeheartedly—not halfway, not only when it’s convenient, and not with one foot already outside the door.

There was a time when I never believed I would experience a love like this. I had heard the words unconditional love, but I didn’t truly understand them. I never imagined I would one day feel them so deeply and so completely.

But now I know.

I know what it feels like to be chosen without having to beg.

To be protected without being controlled.

To be understood without constantly explaining my heart.

To be loved in a way that brings peace instead of pain.

Your love didn’t erase everything I went through, but it reminded me that my past never disqualified me from receiving something beautiful. You helped me understand that love was never supposed to destroy me. It was meant to remind me that I was worthy of tenderness, honesty, loyalty, laughter, friendship, and peace.

Another year of laughter.

Another year of growing.

Another year of healing.

Another year of choosing each other—even from thousands of miles apart.

As grateful as I am today, I’d be lying if I said there wasn’t a part of me that aches.

Birthdays are meant to be celebrated with the people you love, and my greatest birthday wish is that one day soon, we won’t be celebrating through phone calls and messages anymore.

My prayer is that next year—or as soon as God opens the door—we’ll be celebrating my birthday side by side instead of separated by an ocean.

Until that day comes, I’ll keep thanking God for the love we’ve been given. Distance has never changed how deeply we love each other. If anything, it has taught us to treasure every conversation, every prayer, every “I love you,” and every moment we get to share.

You are so much more than the man I love.

You are my safe place.

My best friend.

My greatest answered prayer.

My laughter.

My peace.

My soulmate.

Thank you for loving me in a way I once believed only existed in dreams.

Thank you for reminding me that real love isn’t measured by miles—it’s measured by commitment, sacrifice, faith, and choosing each other over and over again.

I’m grateful that God has blessed me with another year of life, but even more grateful that He blessed me with you.

Here’s to the day when we won’t have to say, “Happy Birthday,” from different countries, but can celebrate hand in hand, making up for every birthday we’ve spent apart.

Because of you, I don’t just know what unconditional and wholehearted love means…

Because of you, I know what it feels like.

I love you today, tomorrow, and always. Happy birthday to me… and here’s to hoping my greatest birthday gift comes soon—the day I finally get to celebrate beside you. ❤️
