Summer Breeze

As “Summer Breeze” by The Isley Brothers plays through the speakers, I find myself staring out the window, letting the music, the sunshine, and the warm summer air slow my thoughts. There’s something about this song that makes me pause and reflect. It reminds me that some of life’s most meaningful moments are often the simplest ones.

My mind drifts to my husband.

I think about how deeply I long for the opportunity to finally spend the rest of my life with him—not through phone calls, video chats, and messages, but side by side. I wonder what it will feel like when “waiting” is no longer part of our story.

I miss the way he looks at me.

He has a way of looking into my eyes that makes me feel like I’m the only woman in the world. It’s a look that says, without words, “This is the woman I want to spend the rest of my life with.” I miss the warmth in his eyes, the comfort of his embrace, and the feeling of simply being together.

Sometimes I close my eyes and imagine our future.

I imagine waking up beside him every morning instead of reaching for my phone to tell him good morning. I imagine him gently stroking my face before the day begins, stealing sleepy smiles, and sharing quiet moments that most people never think twice about.

I imagine us making coffee together while the house slowly wakes up. Grocery shopping on a Saturday morning. Cooking dinner side by side. Arguing over who forgot to buy milk, then laughing about it five minutes later.

I imagine taking evening walks, holding hands without thinking about it, watching movies curled up on the couch, praying together before bed, and sitting outside as the sun goes down with nowhere else we’d rather be.

I imagine introducing him to everyday moments that distance has stolen from us—family dinners, birthdays, holidays, and lazy Sunday afternoons where the greatest joy is simply being together.

I imagine traveling, building our home, cheering each other on through every dream, and growing through every challenge. I imagine growing old together, our hair turning gray, our faces changing with time, yet somehow still catching him looking at me with that same love in his eyes.

People often think love is found in grand gestures.

But after years of loving someone across continents, I’ve learned that love lives in the ordinary moments.

It’s in waking up together.

It’s in sharing breakfast.

It’s in folding laundry while talking about your day.

It’s in the quiet, everyday moments that become the memories you’ll treasure forever.

That’s what I dream about.

Not a perfect life.

Not a luxurious life.

Just an ordinary life with the man I love.

Maybe that’s why this song touches my heart so deeply today. As Summer Breeze fills the air, it reminds me that sometimes the greatest dreams aren’t about extraordinary moments—they’re about finally getting to experience the ordinary with the person you’ve waited so long to come home to.

And until that day comes, I’ll keep believing that some dreams are worth every season of waiting.
